IDE Settings
- Edit -> Preferences ->
- -> General -> Zoom with Scroll Wheel
- -> Interface -> Show Channels In Color
- -> Cursors -> Show Crosshair in Brush Tip
Standard Tricks
- Hand Tool:: hold down space
- Copy selection:: Ctrl + Alt + Click on selection
- Turn off selection: View -> Extras
- Find transform handlers on oversize images: View -> Fit On Screen / View -> Actual Pixels
Layer Mask
- Make a selection using lasso/path/etc.
- Go to an unlocked layer
- Layer palette -> add Layer mask
- Black = hide; White = show;
- Use the brush tool to edit the layer mask
Convert Image to Grey Scale
- Image -> Adjustments -> Desaturate
- Image -> Mode -> Grayscale
- Use the grey scale of a channel:
- Select the Channel that looks the best
- Click the arrow at the top right of the Channels palette to open the flyout menu
- Choose Duplicate Channels
- Choose Document: New
Path
- Turn on View -> Show -> Grid to help
- Finish drawing: Ctrl + Pen click
- Quick convert point: Alt + Pen click and drag
- Restall adjustment of point: click the point with the convert tool
The Pen Tool
- palette -> Pen Tool
- Top Tool Bar -> Path
- Start to place anchor points
- place as few anchor points as possible
- when there is a sharp turn, place two adjacent anchor points.
- To move and change existing anchor points: palette -> direct selection (white arrow)
- Right Click on path -> make selection -> Enter
Create custom shape
- Select a path
- Choose Edit -> Define Custom Shape
- Enter the name of the new shape
- Click OK.
Selection
Select with Channel
- save selection as channel: Channels palette -> bottom -> Save Selection as Channel
- load saved selection: Channels palette -> Ctrl + Click on the alpha channel to be loadedp
